Your hair is your crowning glory. It is a part of your body, so you want to take good care of it. When you have nice, healthy hair, you feel good about yourself. Others make compliments or ask you what your secret is. It is always nice to have compliments, especially about hair.
There are things that you could do that will damage your hair and possibly lead to some thinning. Nobody wants this, of course, however, there are other things you can do to help maintain a healthy head of hair, so let’s take a closer look at some of these tips for healthier hair.
1. General Health
If you take care of yourself, it can show in your hair as well. Eating healthy and having regular exercise not only keeps you stronger and healthier, but it will also have a bearing on your hair, so focus on having a good, healthy lifestyle.
2. Keep It Simple & Natural
Many people go through straightening, waving, colouring and all kinds of things. It is true that when you undergo these changes, you do look good, especially when you obtain these services from a professional hair salon. However, overdoing these procedures does play a part in hurting the health of your hair. It would be good if you kept things simple and natural and not put so much stress on the hair.
It is difficult to refrain from this, because the end result of these treatments make you look good and that’s what people care about. Perhaps don’t overdo it so that you keep your hair relatively healthy.
3. Hair Dryer
Try not to use hot air as this can damage your hair. Use warm to cool air so that it does not damage your hair and this will also help you to keep the shine.
4. Swimming & The Sun
Swimming is fun and also great exercise. It’s fun to get together with your pals and enjoy swimming and some sun, but be careful and do it in moderation. Chlorine in swimming pools will do your hair no favours and neither will too much sun. It can be harder to repair the damage. Try to protect your hair in swimming pools and in the hot sun by wearing something on your head.
5. Wet Hair
When it comes to wet hair, especially long hair, don’t use a brush or a fine-toothed comb to detangle it. Hair is most fragile and vulnerable when it is wet, so either use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb gently to get rid of any tangles.
6. Food For Your Hair
Certain foods are considered good for your hair. Some of these foods contain specific vitamins and minerals that are known to be good for a healthy head of hair. Things like iron, protein, vitamins A, C and E, biotin, zinc, selenium and omega-3 are all good to consume if you want your hair to be healthy.
There are other things you can do (or not do) to help with your hair. Always pulling your hair tight into a ponytail can cause you some thinning. You can also massage your scalp as this will help with circulation within the hair follicles. Good blood flow is important to keep the hair healthy. You can even massage in certain products that are known to be good for your hair and which can minimize hair loss and keep your hair looking great.
